SheetsHowTo publishes clear, practical tutorials for Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel. The goal is simple: when you search for "how do I do X in a spreadsheet", you should land on a page that shows exactly where to click and which formula to type, without having to read through filler first.

Who writes the guides

Hi, I'm Gerard Fernandez. I'm a programmer, and I'm passionate about technology and about breaking complex problems down into simple, efficient solutions. I'm largely self-taught, with an analytical, curious mindset: I enjoy picking up new languages, tools and methods, and figuring out the fastest, cleanest way to get something done.

Spreadsheets are part of that work every single day, for cleaning data, doing quick calculations and keeping projects organized. Over the years I've built up a lot of small tricks and formulas, and I started SheetsHowTo to write them down clearly, the way I wish they'd been explained to me when I was learning. I'd rather one good example than three paragraphs of theory.

How the tutorials are made

• Every tutorial is followed step by step in the current version of Google Sheets or Microsoft 365 Excel before it is published.
• Formulas are tested with real example data, and the menu paths are checked against the current interface.
• Guides are reviewed and updated when Google or Microsoft change how a feature works. The "Updated" date at the top of each article shows when it was last checked.

Spreadsheet apps change often. If a step no longer matches what you see on screen, please let me know and I'll fix it.
